FYI

One.  I didn't include The Time Traveler's Wife in my favorite books list, but you know it belongs there.  The trailer for the movie is out!  Watch it.  Rachel McAdams is exactly who I imagined as Clare.  I kind of adore her for everything, though, so I guess that doesn't count.  She's too pretty to be out in public.  She's just.  Too.  Pretty.  Eric Bana needs no words.  He is almost prettier than she is, and that's just unnatural.  Not that I'm complaining at all.  You know the movie will be successful just because all the book's fans will go watch it.  It looks good.  I have high hopes.

Two.  Kioko, my favoritest author ever (college fans unite!) for the Percy Jackson fandom has started a Percy Jackson fic battle.  If you are interested, please join!  First, everyone puts up prompts.  For example: Percy/Annabeth, the end or Percy/Nico, alcohol intolerance (admit it, this one will bring out riotous fics).  And then, the participating authors can write as many fanfictions based on the prompts as he or she desires.  I have mentioned this before, but I love fanfiction the way I loved Ramen noodles (before I went to college and overdosed).  But I have not overdosed on fanfiction, luckily.  Here is our rather obvious attempt to alleviate our grief for the series being over, trying to keep our love alive.  Thanks to the amazing Kioko for hosting.  If I could steal her writing and not call it plagiarism, I would do it.

Yeah, I'm going to have to accept the fact that this draft of ATRS will most definitely not be done by my birthday at the end of July.  That was supposed to be my birthday present to myself.  It's not happening.  I am at 20,000 words for it, though.  That's a fourth done?  If I speed up a little, I might be able to pull it off.  We shall see.

  1. You can do it! It's a draft, right? Just let your muse lose, ignore the 'its not great feeling and go for it! That's what I'm having to do with my editing deadline of 1st july. Still only on chapter 6...but I'm ordering myself not to freeze up and just go for it.

  2. Don't hate me, but I couldn't read The Time Traveler's Wife. Maybe I'll like the movie better. *ducks*

  3. Wow. I didn't even know they were making a Time Traveler's Wife movie. Sadly, I'm going to have to wait for ages until it comes out on DVD to see it, because I don't think I know anyone who'll go watch it with me. :)

Ah, yes, birthday goals... well, my birthday's in August, so I'll pretend I don't remember those exist...

  4. Oh, Yunaleska, it's so hard to ignore the "it's not great" feeling, but I am slogging along.

ElanaJ, lol, we all have different preferences.

If it comes down to it, I will go watch it myself. Like a creeper. It looks like the kind of movie you will probably end up crying through, so maybe it's not the greatest idea to watch it in a theater anyway.

  5. I agree. Let your inner first drafter lose and don't pull back on the reigns! Make a good outline and stick to it and turn off your spell checker. Nothings more distracting than annoying little zigzag lines. When in doubt, make a note and come back. We all have those scenes we're just gnawing to write so don't let yourself keep you from writing them!

  6. This is actually my second draft, but for all intents and purposes, might as well be the first.

I think I should go somewhere with no Internet access, so I can't be distracted. Or block every site on my computer except dictionary.com and wikipedia (to cross-check mythology correctness).

  7. I just wandered over here and finally discovered how to post a comment because I am stupid about crossposting. XD

Thanks for the plug about the battle, btw. You definitely need to come over and submit some prompts!
