Best Location For Writing

Just wondering, where do people like to write?

I used to go to coffee shops or bookstores, but that tends to cost a lot of money in the long run and also, I get easily distracted by people watching and magazines/books. Then, this year, I don't have the car during the day, so out of necessity, I learned how to be productive at home.  Now I feel much more comfortable writing in my room. Like at the moment, I'm parked on my bed like a fatass, fully dressed and under the covers. Cup of coffee on my night stand and a couple of books around me. This is how I write pretty much every day. And it's working, evidently, as I have not fallen below 1k per day for almost a whole month.

I have also developed this weird fear that I make odd facial expressions while I'm writing or I have bad posture, and I don't want people in public to judge me. Furthermore, I dislike being That Hipster Girl who is obviously writing a novel in a cafe, crippled with first-world ennui.

Okay, time to get back to it. My novel is divided into months. July to March of the next year. I'm about halfway done with December. Today, I am going to hit 35,000. Woo!

  1. The key thing is usually to find somewhere that you feel comfortable in. If you like the noise of coffee shops, then you could always try listening to music or the television while writingg (as long as you can tune it out).

    Congrats on 35k words!

  2. I always write in my room when I'm on my computer. Oddly enough, the best place for me to scribble long-hand is in a classroom, during a lecture. I have no idea why, but it's not a good thing for my studies! :)

    1. Haha, I used to purposefully write in classes I hated so I wouldn't have to pay attention.

  3. I think I'm more awake and focused when I'm writing somewhere else - like at a cafe, but I agree, it can get distracting (and expensive). At home, I'm usually curled into a corner of the couch with my laptop balancing on an armrest, haha. I find I'm actually more productive at a table though...

    1. It's true. After a while, my back hurts, and it's better to just move to a table. :)
