And This Is Key

If you have a clever turn of phrase or a lovely paragraph, do not save it. Just write it down. Don't think, oh but I want it to go sixty pages later, because by the time you get to sixty pages, it is no longer going to work. I always do this. ALWAYS. I should know by now, if it seems like a good idea at the time, JUST WRITE IT DOWN. You're not wasting your good ideas upfront because you'll come up with more good ideas later.

In other news, I actually bought 50 Shades of Grey on my Kindle last night because I was consumed with curiosity. But then immediately after I clicked the "Buy" button, I was struck by disgust at myself for spending $9.99 on Twilight fan fiction,* and I canceled my order before it could appear on my device. #cametomysenses

Yeah I just hashtagged that.

Also, why is everyone leaving to get a Tumblr? I am a cantankerous old woman and cannot make technological transitions easily.

*Just clarifying, I think there's some really awesome fan fiction out there, some of it better than published original fiction. I just don't want to pay for it, is all. And I don't think anybody is going to argue 50 Shades of Grey underwent massive editing from its original form as Master of the Universe.

  1. Not to shamelessly link my blog, but Alz wrote a hilarious and detailed review of 50 Shades of Grey if you are indeed THAT curious. I was kinda curious too, and Alz has graciously sacrificed her eyes and brain cells to read/skim the book so that we may all satisfy that curiosity.

As for Tumblr, it's fun for like sharing/finding pictures, hilarious memes, and gif parties. It's not so good for actually interacting with people I find (unless you actually know people who will put stuff in your ASK box and/or are uber talented/popular & will therefore have people put stuff in your ASK box). And while it is a great source of inspiration (because of all the pretty pictures and quotes you may find), it's not so good for organizing them. Like if all you want is a really pretty hodgepodge digital scrapbook, Tumblr is good. If you want to ever find anything again, it's not so good.

    1. HAHA, no worries. I read that blog like immediately after it popped up on the side. And was not disappointed with the stick-figure rendition.
