Dreams Do Come True

So back in September 22, 2009, I posted about my secret pipe dream. Which was to get into Harvard Law. Well, this morning, while I was laying in bed in a bra and underwear, surfing Facebook (total law student material, yo), I get a call with caller ID: Cambridge, MA. I almost dropped the phone, no lie.

And would you believe it? It was the dean of admissions at Harvard, telling me I had a spot off the waitlist.

I'm still in disbelief about this, but my status checker indeed indicates I am admitted. So in four weeks, I will be moving out to Cambridge to attend the school I never believed I would get into (because let's just say, my numbers would not suggest I am a competitive candidate for Harvard). To the east coast! I've never lived outside of the Midwest. This is going to be ... an experience, to say the least.

I'm freaking out. I am absolutely delirious. I feel like I've just been walking around in a daze all day. And I keep being reminded it happened, and it makes me so excited every time.

I don't even know what to say, other than that I'm really, really, really happy. And I really hope I'm not dreaming. And that this is the best birthday present of all time. And I can't wait to start this new adventure.

Holy crap, guys. I'm going to Harvard.

  2. HOLY CRAP, YOU REALLY ARE A FREAKING GENIUS GIRL! You're like Elle Woods, but obviously less blond and not often-times-annoying-if-also-amusing. But seriously, I'm so happy for you that you're going to your dream school and going to the East Coast! I've visited Boston twice and I quite liked it (minus the rain that one time), and also I'm just in love with the history there (woohoo Revolutionary period history). AND it's only a bus ride away from NYC! Eee!

This also totally gives me more reason to visit the Boston/Cambridge area again. I have a few friends living there for school (one actually at Harvard), but now I can count you among them as well. :)

How amazing and exciting and dang, are your Asian parents proud of you or what?! ;)

    1. Haha, my parents were quite possibly more excited than I was.

Yeah, I have a friend who currently lives near Boston and loves it, so I'm definitely excited. My first time seeing it will be when I move out; I've literally never visited. There's a lot of cool stuff out there, historically-speaking. I hope I have time to see it all!

And YES. If you ever visit, let me know. It would be so cool to meet up.
